This Training will be held over a two-day period and will meet for a minimum of 16 hours. The scheduled course hours are from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, however, are subject to change.
Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Each day there will be a one-hour break for participants to have lunch on their own.
The training will be held at the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls in the Fellowship Hall. Directions and recommended lodging are available here.

About This Training
Medication Administration Training for Youth (MATY) is a competency-based medication administration training program approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. It is currently approved for use in several settings:
- Private schools and facilities licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and/or the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS).
- Private schools that comply with the accreditation requirements set forth in Virginia statute § 22.1-19 as administered by the Virginia Council for Private Education.
This training is for staff members who work in the above named facilities and who administer prescription and non-prescription medications to students or residents. This training will be facilitated by an approved MATY-Certified Trainer.
The goal of the MATY program is to increase the safe administration of medication through targeted training on the following objectives:
- Administration of medications ordered by a person legally authorized to prescribe medications, and parental permission when indicated.
- Maintenance of documentation of the administration of of both prescription and non-prescription drugs.
- Utilization of proper techniques when administering medications by various routes.
